Tadelakt Finishes
<< BACK TO MAIN SITE
Tadelakt is a Moroccan form of plaster finish. Historically, it was used as a waterproof finish for the old bath houses, saunas and palaces around Marrakech. The waterproof properties were utilised from drinking vessels used at the time.
Tadelakt finishes resemble the Italian Marmorino and other lime plasters in so-muxch as it is a lime pressure technique, applied wet and dried naturally in the breeze. Tadelakt has a rough, rustic finish compared to the Italian plasters found elsewhere on these pages.
It is the oil and polishing technique used after Tadelakt is applied that gives it the unique traditional finish and properties it has. When applied to a waterproof backing, such as Aquapanel, a waterproof area is guaranteed. Extra wax can be applied to the surface for an even better lustre.
Marmorino and tadelakt finishes are a great alternative to traditional tiles. They can form a seamless finish in both bathrooms and kitchens which makes them water resistant and easy to clean.
